About the Workshop
Madhubani painting is closely associated with the daily life activities and rituals of people belonging Mithila region of Bihar. It generally depicts the nature-inspired motifs with deep meaning painted on various mediums like clay, paper, and cloth. Over the time there have been many improvisations in Mithila paintings to keep the traditional art relevant to the tase contemporary world.
In this workshop participants will learn to create the intricate fish patterns on the cotton cushion covers, starting from the scratch. As natural madhubani motifs are intensively used by designers in home furnishing, fish motif is also one of the most reoccurring Madhubani designs applied on the fabric.
Materials Required
- 10 * 10 inch Fabric cushion cover
- Fabric colour ( black red yellow Blu orange brown green)
- Medium
- Round brush No-1
- Pencil
- Eraser
Graduated from Mithila University Darbhanga, Bihar Avdhesh Kumar Karn is one of the most celebrated names in Mitha folk art across India and abroad.
He has imparted training in Madhubani art and design on various medium in many fashion design universities and schools in Indian and United States. Created with many national and state excellence awards he was long associated with Central government Mithila training program, Delhi.
Last year he was rewarded with Picasso award in West Bengal and Kala Mani award in Delhi for his exemplary contribution in democratizing Indian handicrafts.
